St. Joseph County officers volunteering to assist with garden care at Portage Manor

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — St. Joseph County Commissioner Derek Dieter and St. Joseph County Councilman Robert Kruszynski will probably be volunteering a number of hours per week at Portage Manor to help with garden upkeep and they’re asking the general public to assist.

The primary volunteer session will happen on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Portage Manor, situated at 3016 Portage Avenue in South Bend.

Residents are allowed to volunteer as a lot time as they need to assist minimize the grass and do different garden upkeep.

“We’re reaching out to and welcoming neighborhood companions and volunteers to associate with Portage Manor in beautifying our grounds for the residents we serve,” stated Portage Manor Administrator Kortney Mullins.  “We need to give again to them by enhancing the grounds by way of purposeful designing of our landscaping that won’t solely function a possibility for our residents to benefit from the space but in addition for these in the neighborhood to get to know who we serve.”
